Biden had a message of defiance to his supporters, “We’re leaving office. We’re not leaving the fight.” Biden was speaking after Trump had torn into his presidency in his inauguration speech and said that he would “completely and totally reverse” what the Democrats had done in office. Despite the obvious animosity between the two men, Biden welcomed the incoming president to the White House on the morning of the inauguration day. Although a standard tradition, the same invitation was not extended to Biden four years ago when he beat Trump in the 2020 election. Trump described Biden’s work in office as “a horrible betrayal” during his inaugural speech. The outgoing president spoke to staff at the White House before he left, saying: “No president gets to choose the moment they enter history, but they get to choose the team they enter history with and we chose the best damn team in the world.” #biden #trump #inauguration
