Engineer here. Heat transferred 3 ways: 1) Conduction 2) Convection 3) Radiation What you did helps with #1. Way garages lose heat is primarily #2. #3 doesn't apply here.

Make sure to upgrade your springs as well . We did this and a spring snapped due to the added weight.
