i think a lot of it hinges on the first wave of the digital alt right pipeline in like 2012-2015 being so covert & a lot of that media was a staple of pop culture at the time (especially on YouTube).

This made me think of the concept of counterculture. Woodstock was a way to stick it to “the man”/tradition/rigidity and now it’s swapped & some youth view the establishment as “wokeism”, DEI, etc

I definitely agree. I graduated hs in 2006 and even then, there was a subset of teenagers preaching “modest is hottest” perhaps in reaction to a lot of celebrity trends of the time
