as a kid this would have stunted my mental growth. 👍

I nannied for an unschool family. The children rarely bathed, couldn't read (except the eldest at a low level) and had extremely short attention spans for anything not interesting at that moment.

What happens when they’re told “no” outside the home?

I was raised like this and it completely ruined me. I have to learn childhood lessons as a grown adult. Never took accountability and was never told no. I had to raise myself and it is detrimental

“Why would I want to leave this life and go to school” is going to turn into “why would I want to move out and get a job”

Wait till they get a job and the boss tells them what they can and can’t do! 😂 If we could all do as we pleased we’d all be happy and content sadly life isn’t like that

I homeschooled my son for kinder and quickly realized I am not qualified to be a teacher. He is thriving in public school with a solid routine.

It’s the late bedtime that is the worst. Kids need a rhythm with their sleep cycle.

there is so much more to school, it's structure, it's social. it teaches them how to struggle and over come those struggles, routine, basic literature reading writing, co existing with others, problem

Children thrive in structure. It also reduces anxiety because they always know what to expect in their schedules. The best thing for a child isn’t always the most “fun” thing and that’s okay!

The part that destroys me is the high level of education the parents tend to have. How is that fair? Your kid won’t be prepared to get what you got. How do they not see that??
