There’s also a trend of not wanting a job”beneath” you. Sometimes you might need to take a retail/service job or side gig while you are looking for something permanent. You can make good money serving/bartending weekends and still having open availability during the week for other interviews

I agree with Caleb, but I think that for many of us in the 19-23 year old range, Covid took away our teenage years & it just sort of feels like we teleported to adulthood weirdly so it’s been a hard

Could it be, and hear me out on this, could it be that people are tired of being exploited with nothing to show for it? My family home was 25k when Grandma bought it.

The jobs aren't worth having, no one's lazy, there's no incentive to work or even be loyal to a company

I blame college. It prolongs adolescents. They don't face the real world until at least 22.

you dont think it has anything to do with economic factors at all? stagnant wages, skyrocketing rent, dramatic cost of living increases, etc

idk i feel like the pandemic "stole" a solid 3-4 years from us. I could see being 19 in 2025 after having missed a regular teen experience as still feeling like a child & wanting to put off growing up

Nothing was more frustrating than listening to my friends talk about how they couldn’t get a job out of college when I could because I worked and intern the entire time and they did nothing…..

Someone brought up a good point saying that kids don’t want to work because the money you make isn’t enough to do anything. Short version

It also had to do with the fact that our parents were able to sustain their lifestyle and families off of their incomes (both of my parents were teachers) whereas now that’s NOT the case
