I’m confused because even if they gain citizenship, it doesn’t give their parents citizenship so when their parents have to go back to their native country then obviously the child would go with them

This just means they do not get automatic citizenship. It does not mean they cannot become citizens, they will just have to take legal steps to become a citizen. . .
