Written by McDonald and Ed Sanford, it was McDonald’s first single away from The Doobie Brothers. The lyrics detail the pain and struggle that comes along with letting go of a past love. McDonald recorded the song with his sister, Maureen McDonald, who provided background vocals. The song would go on to peak at number 4 on the Billboard chart.
