Why is it EV's are allergic to any mechanical controls? Console shifters worked for a century of cars but now thats's impossible? It's so alieanating.

I have been considering a normal Mach E because I want to go ev. Something is stopping me! (It’s the Mazda CX-5) I love the look of this car so much though but I’m not the if I’m ready to go ev yet
