@historicus_magnus: Does the context surrounding the image matter more than the image itself? I ask this because, yes, a single still image or even video can be used to make any point that you want. So, yes, sometimes the context does matter more. However, #ElonMusk making the “strange gesture” isn’t out of context. He has a history of being a #supremacist and endorsing #hate groups. And they’ve openly endorsed him as well. The same thing goes for #Trump, too. He was endorsed by David Duke and Christopher Cantwell following the #Charlottesville rally. He had the support of the Proud Boys as well. Does that make his wave in that final image a salute, or merely a still image taken out of context? What about Bush? It makes them out of context because hate groups have not latched onto them and said that this is what we are seeing.
