Why do Carbon Monoxide detectors take batteries and also gets plugged in; I feel like I’m constantly changing the batteries.

Most of the carbon monoxide detectors you buy from the store will not recognize carbon monoxide unless it’s above 400 ppm

That is not true. Old wives tale to leave them low. C0 will typically rise.

This is kinda wrong. It’s not that they take hours. Most CO detectors won’t go off if they detect anything below 40PPM.

Why 18 inches? So the cat or dog can be alerted, but everyone else will be dead by then?

If you don’t have any gas in the house what so ever it’s pointless to even have

CO is .96 specific gravity. It will rise and your detector high, not low. If it alarms low you will be red faced.

So before I was born my parents and my two siblings moved to a new house for more space. The house that they moved into has gas though so my grandparents got my mom and dad carbon monoxide detectors. So when I was very little (like baby or toddler) it started going off and my parents got all of us out of the house. When 911 got to our house, they said if they hadn’t had gone off we wouldn’t have woken up the next day.

why do they make dual detectors smoke and co2

Don Davido :
Co2 detectors work perfectly and as designed, when ceiling mounted.
Mount near the floor and the whole place has to Fill Up, from Ceiling to Floor, for it to be detected in low placement 😞

Check the expiration date on the detector. The sensors expire

So why does my state require the hard wired ones that are in the ceiling smoke detectors 🤦🏻♀️

The UL code requires that they sense slowly at low concentrations and quickly at high concentrations, similar to how the human body reacts to

Not 100% true. I mounted one in garage ceiling and I had my gas blower in there blowing dirt and leaves out and the sensor went off
