@jordxn.simone: the phrase makes sense in an “11th century patriarichal community where women and children are a mans property” way, but were not there so its a little odd! #fory #babymama #language
One thing I find comforting is that when my grandma was pregnant with my mom, there was a part of me along for the ride. All 3 of us have been a part of each other since day 1, and I love them so much

yeah fs the possessive as in 'my' kid is the same as *my* grandma, uncle, cousin, niece,... like that pronoun doesnt mean a property relationship automatically!

People really have no respect for children and that’s why ppl get so mad when we try to pass laws like against child marriage or corporal punishment or conversion therapy

“Having a man’s baby” rhetoric makes women seem like just an incubator service to men.

It centers cis gendered men in such an experience that they will never have much power in.

Yes! Thank you. I’ve been so irritated with this conversation my entire pregnancy, but I don’t have the brain capacity to articulate exactly what’s pissed me off about this conversation.

They treat having children as a reward for men and that’s just so strange. There’s nothing wrong with a woman simply wanting her child but oh they don’t like that

It reminds of how people talk about last names. A man’s last name is HIS. A woman’s last name is her father’s. Never mind the fact that the man usually ALSO has his father’s last name.

“Wow your kid gets his last name before you do 🤨” how do you know she’s not giving the baby HER last name?

Children are our future. That’s why they’re targeted SO heavily.

having a child for a man has always kinda bothered me cause it makes it seem like you don't want children but you did that for a man

Yes!!! Having kids is such a privilege. Like I get to watch these beautiful kids grow up and I get to teach them as much as I can so they can go on and be the best version of themselves.

I also feel that it infantalize women who are well aware that they are not married/engaged and he might leave, but still choose to keep that baby cause it's a calculated risk, if he leaves she

I always hated “we’re pregnant.” No, “we” are not pregnant, SHE is pregnant. If you want to say “we” you say “we’re EXPECTING” because that’s what BOTH of you actually are.

It’s a very interesting take just since the reason for the use of it is diff for everyone I do think sometimes it’s a his baby thing to be like HIS baby=HIS responsibility

I always felt uncomfortable with people saying that, and I think you just pointed out why. I never could put it into words, but this. Children, including babies, shouldn't be belongings.

There is a difference from that which you protect and that which you own. We protect and nurture children, we don’t own them.
