I love splatterpunk but it’s sad that there are a lot with animal cruelty and that’s really a big trigger for me 😢 Loved The Black Farm and Stephen!

I bought dead inside a year ago. When I got it I misunderstood what the book was about (English isn’t my first language). I haven’t and won’t read it. 😵💫

I started with Woom but after reading Gobbler: F*ck Your Thanksgiving I realized I'm going to be really careful about which ones I read.

Thank you, Tessa! Great to hear from readers/reviewers whose first taste of splattepunk/extreme/transgressive horror was woom! Excellent choices for the easy recs too.

I think woom breaking the story up into little bits helps also for beginners, it's not all in your face at once but a gradually sloping drop.

Is it a red flag if you got bored during tender is the flesh and almost didn’t finish it? 💀😂 it’s the only “gross horror” I’ve read.

thank you for making this! I feel like a lot of people dive in and don't know what they're reading and then there's a lot of judgement towards people who read/enjoy extreme horror/splatterpunk.

Thank you! I’ve been waiting for a great intro into extreme horror. I’ve loved horror for years but extreme horror has always been daunting

Audibly gasped at the end of Tender is the Flesh and I've never done that. The Troop is simply one of my favorite horror books that sent me Googling the "creatures and leaving me thinking about it for weeks.

This was great because it’s really hard to explain splatterpunk to people

Tender Is The Flesh was a super good read. Granted, I’d read more graphic material before reading Tender. But I still enjoyed it.

Them is pretty crazy I had to power through that book. Awesome concept. Maybe me second guess going into books blindly though.

My first extreme horror book was playground. I just wanted to see how bad it really was. I’m not crazy I swear but I actually liked it. Besides the grossness in the beginning.

Playground was my first. I’m reading Tender is the Flesh now. I’m about 2/3 done. This one is getting me more than Playground.
