If your new years goal is to get your first pull-up but you don’t know where to start, here are some progressions you can follow. HOW TO GET YOUR FIRST PULL-UP 👉🏻 Inverted row - start stood up, with a little lean back if you’re a complete beginner and work up to making them a little more tricky by gradually making your start position more angled. 👉🏻 Rack chin - once you have practised and improved your inverted rows, the next step you can try is elevating your feet onto a bench or step and pull up using a little assistance from your feet. 👉🏻 Slow negatives - use a bench or climb to the top position of a pull-up and slowly return to the bottom position keeping your chest up, tension in your core and legs in front of you. 👉🏻 Jump negatives - pull up by giving yourself a little assistance by jumping to the top position. Slowly complete your negative pull-up as before. 👉🏻 Static top position hold - jump or climb up to the top position and hold with your chest up, core tight and legs in front of you. 👉🏻 Half reps - from a deadhang position, drive your elbow down and back and imagine you’re trying to snap the pull-up bar in half as you pull. If you can’t get all the way up, that’s fine - half reps will help build your strength and form before moving on to your full pull up. 👉🏻 Keep practising each step and you’ll get your first full pull-up in no time. @AYBL dc NEENY #gym #GymTok #pullups
