@cath_knibbs: As parents, we're not immune to the pull of social media or smartphones. But for some reason we put all our attention on children's screen time, while ignoring the effects of our own. "Do as I say, not as I do" comes to mind... Devices used by parents of young children CAN interrupt the all important early-life bonding time. A lack of consistent eye contact whilst interacting is just one example. (Check out my TEDx talk for more on that topic!) So we should ban phones and social media for parents of young children too right...? No. Banning will not work. For adults, or kids. Instead, we need to learn to live with and adapt to technology, and learn how to use it to enhance our lives and connections with each other (Yes this is possible!).
