@thenewsmovement: The deal, agreed to by Purdue Pharma, the Sackler family members who own the company and lawyers representing state and local governments and thousands of victims, is one of the largest settlements reached of its kind over the past several years. The company sought bankruptcy protection in 2019 as it faced thousands of lawsuits over the opioid crisis. Among the claims are that the company targeted doctors with a message that the addiction risk to the powerful painkillers was low. In October 2024, a branch of the family pledged to defend itself in any cases that are allowed to move forward, saying the legal theory that Purdue and Sackler family members created a “public nuisance”, and which is at the heart of the lawsuits, “is utterly devoid of merits.” We have approached Purdue for comment and at the time of publishing we haven’t heard back. #opioidcrisis #sackler #purdue #news

Ella :
The funds will go to communities nationwide to support opioid addiction treatment, prevention and recovery programs over the next 15 years AND go to victims and their families. Nothing shady

All these people bootlicking for the lawyers , it's as though they work for them . Typically , plaintiffs lawyers get 40 percent , not almost 90 .

It’s the doctors who prescribe the medication. Doctors have been pushing ALL types of medications for years. They get silent kickbacks for writing certain amounts of certain prescriptions.
