You need to give her ulcer guard if she’s not eating. The EPM shouldn’t make her come off her feed while on the road.

Treat for 60 days, get the medication compounded from your vet. My grey had EPM after 60 days of treatment daily he is 100% recovered and his weight improved tremendously.

If you suspect EPM, just treat. I would treat for ulcers simultaneously. I’m a firm believer in starting with Marquis. I give my EPM horse vitamin E, either nano e or elevate liquid every single day

I use vitamin E with the medicine they gave me to treat for epm. I keep mine on the vitamin E as maintenance. And he hasn’t had any issues since!

Blood results are not always accurate. It’s best to just treat for it. Where I’m from EPM is so common most people will just do random detox without testing. If caught early, they can bounce back!

Panacur horse wormer can help with rpm if that’s the case! You have to start with the weekly kit which is around $75 then you give a less effective wormer!

Every six months i do an EPM treatment, it won’t hurt them if they don’t have it, but it’s nice to do it just in case. While treating her, definitely go a little easy on riding/exercise! EPM sucks!

My horse had epm this summer and once she is done with treatment that your vet suggested. Lots of trot poles and exercises to strengthen her hind end and their core.

1/2 All of this is such good advice! My mare got epm a couple years ago and I actually learned this from a dressage trainer for the rehab part. Do lots and lots of trot poles just lunging over and lots of walking up and down hills, backing up and down hills while in hand. I also got an equicore system that I would use to help strengthen her core and hind end once she was coming along nicely from the trot poles and hill work. It's slow progress but my mare made a full recovery. I suggest marquis

I have a horse with EPM. We treated with the “cheaper option” of toltrazuril for a while and it never really got him right. I just did the protazil treatment … it was around 900$ and I noticed a huge

EPM can be expensive to test for but I would definitely talk to your vet first and tell them what she’s doing. If you’re basing it off of how she’s acting at a show, it could be bleeding, ulcers,

A mare i used to ride had epm and we didn’t even realize it bc we thought the weirdness was from a different source of pain until we tested her. She made a full recovery and is now up to 2D locally

I had a horse have epm, the vet gave us meds that we had to give him for the rest of his life. There are multiple kinds of EPM, he had a rare kind so it may be different for y’all. The vet will help-

Treat! Even if the blood results don’t come back for EPM. I have one who almost died from it but her blood results didn’t come back super alarming for it. Treated for 30 days and she was okay after

I would get her looked at for ulcers. The not eating or gaining weight and the anxiety sounds a lot like ulcers. My mare had ulcers and she had a lot of the same symptoms.

I treat all my horses w the compound epm meds once in spring once in fall, epm is absolutely awful and can destroy a horse if it gets to far so I like to be safe!

Potentially could be ulcers, especially if she’s acting anxious, loss of weight and appetite.

Horses can go off feed with epm because they can choke from it. My mare went off feed as well when she had epm and when she did eat she would choke

I treat mine for EPM once a year. You don’t need to wait for the results to come back from the vet. Treating her will definitely help her gain weight as well.

Epm was a long hard road for my mare. She was older to start anyway. I think we got her meds from outlaw equine out of Texas. It made my mare drop weight fast. And it was so hard to get it back on her
