From today it is illegal across the UK to sell any vaping or nicotine product to anyone under eighteen. That covers vape devices, e liquids with or without nicotine, and even nicotine pouches. But here is the part that hits adults too. If you buy one of these products for someone under eighteen, that is now an offence. The government calls it proxy purchasing. Vending machines are out as well. From today, no vending machine in the UK can sell vapes, nicotine products or tobacco. Anyone running the premises where the machine sits can be punished. And the promotions are gone too. Businesses can no longer give these products away for free, sell them at big discounts, or hand out coupons, if the aim is to promote them. Break the rules and officers in England can hit you with a two hundred pound fixed penalty on the spot. And this is only the start. On the first of January next year, selling tobacco to anyone born on or after two thousand and nine becomes illegal.
