@pawportunities_rescue: What does it look like when a dog gets returned to the shelter? For each dog it’s a little different, but one thing remains the same every time: it’s heart breaking. Beavis went to a potential foster to adopt home. He was the bestest boy, and did all the right things. Unfortunately, the fosters personal dog changed her mind in regards to the addition of another dog. The fosters did try to work through it, but ultimately they were terrified if Beavis remained with them, their dog would kill him. This isn’t what’s best for Beavis, or that family. For the safety of all involved, he was returned to the shelter. Beavis is truly a wonderful dog, and while it breaks our hearts that he’s back, we know it’s what was best for him. If the addition of an animal isn’t good for each member of the family- including existing pets, then it won’t be a good fit for anyone in the family- including the animal potentially getting adopted. Beavis is incredibly intelligent. He doesn’t do well in the shelter. He looses his mind, which ends up in self harming behaviors.
