PACU nurse here, that gas is awful & if they sat you up too soon after surgery that's why it's trapped in your shoulder area😔... gallbladder is one of the most painful surgeries to recover from🙏

Nuc med tech here - could be that they kept you to make sure you don’t have any bile leaks, and to make sure you can tolerate food well. If you couldn’t, you’d get another HIDA to verify for a leak ❤️

I thought the same thing. I’m like I wonder if something else was going on because when I had my surgery, they released me right after I woke up

They definitely didn’t explain the extent of the pain that would come from the gas. I think it was worse than the actual stomach pain. I don’t think burping is going to help get rid of it though

This surgery should never be an out patient surgery! It was by far the worst pain I’ve ever had! I’m glad to hear they kept you.

Had mine out 3 weeks ago (out PT) and they only gave me 3 Oxycode 5mg 💊 that I had to cut in half and take every 8 hours. I was in so much pain. I would def stay in hospital to control pain.
