Their “red teeth” are small but visible when their mouths are open, which helps them grip prey and deter predators. 2. Habitat and Behavior: They are found in tropical Indo-Pacific reefs, where they form large schools near reef drop-offs. Unlike many other reef fish, they spend much of their time swimming in open water, feeding on plankton rather than staying close to the reef. 3. Plankton Feeders: Red-tooth triggerfish primarily eat zooplankton, such as small crustaceans and larvae.
