In Egypt only take Uber (where available). The price is fixed and even if you always tip 20% you’ll be going from the airport to the city for 3$. If you take the taxi they’ll rip you off.

We had taxi driver, he drove us whole day all around cairo and from airport to hotel and next day back to airport (we had 23 h layover in Cairo) and he said pay how much you think I deserve

For those going Egypt, use an app called InDrive. You can decide a fixed amount & it also provides an estimated amount for the journey prior. Cash or card. I’d say use cash mainly for it.
