@soynyz: Did you know that in 1492, the Jews of Spain were expelled and some made their way to Puerto Rico? Over 500 years ago, in 1492, Spain issued the Alhambra Decree, forcing thousands of Jews to leave the country if they didn’t convert to Christianity. Many sought refuge in places like Portugal, North Africa, and the Ottoman Empire. But did you know that some of these Jewish families eventually ended up in Puerto Rico? During the early years of colonization, the Spanish Crown encouraged settlement in its colonies. Some Jewish families, often hiding their faith to avoid persecution, took the risk and migrated to the Caribbean, including Puerto Rico. Small towns like San Germán became home to some of these settlers for centuries. Their influence quietly shaping and adding to the cultural tapestry of the island.#boricua🇵🇷fypシ #puertorico #puertoricotiktok #puertorico🇵🇷 #puertoricogram
