When I sold cars, the biggest tip I got was a customer bought me lunch one time because they were happy with the service that I provided to them and I was over the moon excited over that.

I had a customer tip me $500 on a full-list new Escalade deal in 2014. I was shocked and thought it unnecessary, but smiled and said thank you.

Always appreciated on a tough deal, but absolutely never expected. I have had repeat customers drop off a bottle of wine when I help them though I always go above and beyond for them regardless

Now I’ve had customer come back afterwards, with thank you cards/giftcards or cash and even lunch. But never ask for a tip. This blows my mind!

I blame platforms like square that make a percent on the transaction fee. If they can increase the amount, they get paid more. Which is why you see tip options anywhere there’s a square.

I’m pretty young, had a family come in, we talked relationships and their work and just life, got a good connection. Cut $10 off a lease for them ($333) and he tipped me $100 to take my girl to dinner
