@katiesteckly: It’s been a long time coming, but we made it 🙌🏻 I’m so grateful to have the career that I dreamed of as a teenager, even though then, I had no idea what the content creator space would grow into. I’m so glad to be a part of it 🫶🏻 After years of posting casually on YouTube as a high schooler, and in university, in 2018 I decided to start taking it seriously. I started posting two videos a week, in addition to using the skills I’d learned in video production and social media management as a freelancer. I did freelance work and posted consistently on YouTube into 2019, when I finally had a video blow up and get over a million views - jump starting the growth of my channel. An overnight success, 8 years in the making 😅 From there, I kept freelancing - which is how @creatorlymedia eventually came to be! And started monetizing my content through YouTube adsense, brand deals, affiliate marketing, and more. The numbers above reflect the total profit my business has made each year since 2011. (Though, if we were really tracking, those early years would be negative since I was spending my own money on camera gear, etc) So, while this isn’t all income directly from YouTube (in terms of adsense) I feel that all of my business is a result of my work on YouTube, since that’s where it all started, and it continues to be my biggest platform today.
