My entire childhood, I wasn't allowed to display negative emotions. I was only given attention if I was happy or pleasant. This is my hell.

I have cptsd and a severe avoidant attachment. I genuinely cannot feel any of my emotions I have no idea what’s going on in my body at any time. I feel like I’m just floating through life w/o living

This is so me...but I swear everytime I open up and start depending on ppl that's the exact moment they distance themselves or find someway to let me down at a time when I need someone the most

i feel like its also very frowned upon lately to reach out and to try and get those needs met because “you should love yourself”

it is also self fulfilling you will see betrayal in the most normal behaviors because you don't know what "normal" feels like so if someone isn't meeting every need every time it feel like betrayal

immediately saved to send to my therapist. I've lost the ability to articulate these complex thoughts and emotions but am trying so hard to work through it. as soon as I try to process it my brain immediately says NOPE and the thought is gone

I’m a lone wolf. Sharing anything meant that I would lose ownership or that it would getting ruined. To this day I tell them nothing, or at least at the last minute 🙄

I struggle with trust because people always seem to disappoint me. I want to let my guard down, but unfortunately, it feels like too much of a risk. It sucks.

What advice would you have for those of us who had this childhood experience but are now parents ourselves?

so this is me and I understand it well. I'm wondering about codependency? I'm so far from it that it's just confusing to think about how ppl would use that to survive if people always let them down?

It's also so hard, when "on paper" there is no "real neglect" and the parents were never mean, but there is still something missing that you can't even really pinpoint

a big part of my healing has been having people in my life who when I say "hey I'm having a hard time, I need connection/help/love" they are proud of me and happy to give it

Once, my therapist I'd seen for months, asked how are you feeling today. I actually had no answer because I hadn't felt anything for decades.

The worst is being consistently disappointed by people bc the unhealed trauma draws in the same patterns in relationships which further solidifies the need to not need 😑😓🖖❤️🩹
