@helenabradbury.travel: Stamps in Japan are everywhere and last time I visited I didn't have a notebook with me. This time we made it our aim to collect a stamp at every train station, attraction and cultural site that we could. We came home with over 50 stamps! So make sure to buy or carry a small notebook with you for fun and free momentos, we had so much fun trying to find the stamp at each station and we got some really special ones like Kawaguchiko Station which is the town we met at near Fuji 7 years ago and also the stamp for the park we got engaged in in Hokkaido. They're all free and you can find them at all stations (except metro only stations). We also found them at major attractions such as Tokyo Tower, Sapporo Airport or Kyoto train museum.
