Same happened to my dad. He was doing well in his business and the landlord said she was going to raise the rent so he packed up and left….the building has been vacant for over 10 years now.

Moving is a pain I know I am in the process now. I am going from a space at $6500 a month down to $4000 better space better location. If my landlord has not raised my rent I would have stayed.

Good for you! I smile everytime I drive past the building we left 3 months ago because it's still empty. I tried to negotiate, but the owner got greedy & tried to ignore his obligation with repairs.

what I'm hearing is: "I took out a loan and used this property as collateral so I need to jack up rent to cover it and interest" and now hes about to lose it to a bank.
