the tangy one is a small portion because it’s a pickle! you just take a tiny amount in a mouthful of your daal, aloo and roti / rice :) it’s called achar, common ones are mango, chilli

That very tart/sour one was the achar…. Not sure which one you have but most common is lemon and mango achar.
