The stick looks more comfortable than a "bowline on the bight", which I've had to work out of a few time. Your "Blake's Hitch" should have a "Figure 8" stopper knot backup though. Nice work.

if you take another separate rope and make a stirrup attached to the down line, ascending will be much easier.

Reminds me of that Russian amateur spelunker who died in the deepest cave in Europe. He didn't bring ascenders, and got stuck at the bottom of a huge vertical section.
