@armelisdorville: I’ve been thinking a lot about preserving family recipes and our cultural foods. As a kid, and to this day, my mom’s food represents unconditional love. The flavors are hard to recreate and I’ve always felt challenged by the idea of measuring up to her cooking. (If you know my mom, her food slaps!! Haha). But her food tasted different than my grandmothers, similar, but with her own swag. And now I see myself doing the same with my food, having my own swag. This idea came to me one night when I remembered how I would call my mom for help when I first moved out and into my own place. I had very little experience cooking. She would sit on the phone with me giving me step by step instructions. Most of it would end up burnt but she’d just laugh and tell me to try again next time.
