Here in Australia we are having an evolutionary war with sulphur crested cockatoos about them opening these bins and getting into trash and making massive messes. Humans invent a lid restraint, cockatoos defeat said restraint and so on. Have a google it's particularly happening in Melbourne. Funny but also a serious problem.

Nice work. Getting the force holding the strap enough to prevent opening by wind but still able to be emptied is good engineering.

All you have to do is turn the back of the can into the direction of where the wind is coming from. Keeps the cans secure every time.
