@eatwithafia: Replying to @Amanda’s day #greenscreen Please, I am not here to fight anyone. If you want use maggi, please be my guest. I just want people to make an informed decision. My priority is African food first. As a Ghanaian I also realize we are a lot more lucky when it comes to access and widespread use of natural spice blends, it is not the case across the region and I should have been more careful with my statements With that being said, we can focus on our indigenous spices first. #AfricanFood #westafricanfood #nigerianfood #naturalspices
Nigerian here;hardly used maggi going on 10 years now.In my house we use the Yoruba iru,the Igbo ogiri, ground crayfish, ground dried prawns, spices:uziza(leaves, seeds),uda(the local black pepper)...

In Ghana I use egye aware and sankofa spices with Ada salt and a little dawa dawa. In Canada, I use better than bouillon.

Thank you! I'm a cancer patient and I can taste bouillon a mile away. I really try to work with a variety of spices to get flavor profiles.

My grandma and mum cook without maggi cubes or bouillon cubes in general - I’ve picked that up as well and don’t use them to cook.

You can get msg naturally from other foods, but they carry a specific flavor profile. Tomato, mushrooms, cheeses have a specific flavor msg is just the extracted form so you get the benefit WITHOUT a specific flavor profile. It's a natural salt.

Nestle is a multinational corporation making billions of dollars selling us salt packaged into cubes. Other ingredient in maggi can be subbed for indigenous ingredients.
