Concert Review: Teezo Touchdown at Electric Brixton Where were you in the 90s? I wasn’t born yet. But that doesn’t matter, because Teezo Touchdown at the Electric Brixton took the whole crowd back to that era with his enchanting performance and rockstar energy. While Teezo is still new on the scene, it has to be said, it is very impressive how he managed to develop such a strong cult following so quickly. The crowd was full of people dressing like Teezo in his honour, even drawing the signature ‘T’s’ on their cheeks. The opening act was the band ‘Laundry Day’ who started off the evening with some surfer rock and emo vibes. At some times I felt The Red Hot Chilli Peppers being channels through them with their laidback, grungy vibes. It was London in 2024 but it could have been New York in the 90s with the atmosphere on display. When Teezo Touchdown appeared on stage, the crowd was riotously happy. Chants of ‘Teezo!’ echoed through the venue before he even had a chance to start. Sporting a spiked leather, American football armour, and yielding a microphone inside a flower bouquet, Teezo brought eccentricity and rockstar attitude to his performance, opening the show with the first few tracks from his debut album. Before every track, he would interact with the crowd. Sometimes it was asking the crowd to shout ‘When?’ So he could reply ‘Now!’ And start the song, or just bait the crowd into starting the song for him. As Teezo stomped across the stage, the crowd went wild, and that only grew when Teezo challenged the crowd to let loose during ‘Rock, Paper, Strippers’. He also did a solid performance of Modern Jam including Travis’ preceding verse, showing great love for his feature. While he could have relied less on backing tracks, his cult following is difficult to deny after seeing this crowd. An encore was called for but denied due to safety concerns but Teezo showed how much he understands his fans by coming out to give thanks for everyone who came out to see him. A lovely end to the evening. Venue: 3/5 Performance: 4/5 Crowd: 5/5 Visuals: 3/5 #concert #teezotouchdown #concertreview #rock #hiphop #raptok
