@sightsofsara: The steepest hike I’ve ever done which left my legs sore for 6 days ⤵️ Acatenango Base Camp, Guatemala 🇬🇹 🥾The hike to Acatenango Base Camp in Guatemala typically covers a distance of 5 to 6 kilometers (3 to 4 miles), depending on the route your tour or guide takes. The trek involves an elevation gain of about 1,200 meters (3,937 feet) from the trailhead to the base camp, which is situated at an altitude of around 3,600 meters (11,811 feet). 🌋The hike usually takes 4 to 6 hours to complete, depending on your fitness level, pace, and how long you stop for breaks. It’s a challenging climb due to the steep inclines and altitude, but the views from base camp—especially of the neighboring Volcán de Fuego—make it a rewarding experience. Unfortunately Fuego did not erupt while we were there, and there was a storm overnight so we also missed out on submitting for sunrise.
