My dad told me that when he was a kid he wanted a orange so bad to eat and he lived on a ranch and all they ate was potatoes back in the depression, we are spoiled

My grandpa was born in 1923 he went through depression too. He cooked vegetable soup enough to eat and freeze for the next two months. That’s how I grew up.

You’re so right! My husband told about having gravy & biscuits for supper lots of times. They’d go hunting for squirrels and had maybe 2 shells apiece…so they made every shot count.
