@texasgarden8: here in Texas, the weather is harsh. Spring cold snaps give way to boiling temps and humidity so thick it feels like walking through water. I love a cottage style garden because of the lush, peaceful, abundant feeling it gives. I am also a huge fan of planting VERY thickly and cottage style gardening is full of that. In Texas, though, it can be hard to keep those cool weather loving plants like larkspur, delphinium, lupine, columbine, etc going through the brutal summers. I have all of these plants in my own garden, where they have weathered the toughest summers & still perform. I like to garden with a focus on pollinators so of course I included all plants that the bees, moths, & butterflies love to visit. Part 2 later!

The problem is you need plants that will withstand 100+ and 19 and be OK. I lost all of my lantana. 😭

My lavender just went through 9.8 inches of snow this past week and still beautiful and vibrant. It was caked up in the pot, freezing.

Also Zinnia’s!!!! Dwarf ones for your front garden or regular ones for the back. Mine grew 3+ feet tall and I had beautiful flowers all summer and fall!
