@streetheartstx: Izzy has been with us for a little over a week now. We’ve caught, trapped and even tranquilized numerous scared dogs in order to get them to safety but Izzy just might be our most frightened foster dog yet. When we learned she was born on the streets, we knew there was a possibility Izzy would be very unsocialized with people. You really don’t know until you bring them home and give them time to adjust. She was covered in fleas and full of parasites so we tackled those issues first. We always allow our new foster dogs to decompress in their own, safe space and venture out when they’re ready. Izzy has not shown any interest in leaving her kennel yet and that’s okay. While we love to see timid dogs progress with tail wags, being playful and seeking affection, we will celebrate smaller goals with Izzy such as eating in front of us, retrieving treats we toss her way and showing interest in other dogs. Confident, playful dogs can be great role models for dogs like Izzy so we’re hoping she will click with one soon! We will continue to share Izzy updates and we hope each one will get better and better 💜
