You’ve heard of Cliffs of Moher but have you heard of the (lesser visited ) Sliabh Liag Cliffs? In comparison, Sliabh Liag gets around 200,000 visitors annually, Cliffs of Moher gets around 1.5 million! It’s a hidden gem! Save this post! You aren’t going to want to miss it! Located in County Donegal, Ireland, these breathtaking cliffs are a must-visit destination! Here’s what you need to know to plan your visit: The cliffs are 1,972 feet tall! Located on the west coast of Donegal Panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, Donegal Bay, and the Sligo Mountains. Also called Slieve League, but I asked, the locals prefer Sliabh Liag. Visiting the Cliffs: Park at the Sliabh Liag visitors center. There’s a small fee. The lower lot lets you park without a time limit. Take the shuttle (€6 round trip adults) to the viewing platform. Some places it makes sense to skip the shuttle. Not here! Save your energy for a hike! Hiking: 🗻Sliabh Liag View Trail: short hike for the best views! Starts at the viewing platform and is less than 1 mile to the top viewing area. 🗻Sliabh Liag Pilgrim Path: A challenging 2-3 hour hike with stunning views! 🗻One Man’s Pass: The most treacherous hike, only to be done with caution by experienced hikers in good weather conditions! Sheer Cliff drops on one side, sheer ocean drops on the other. 🗻Sliabh Liag Loop Trail: (highly recommended!) A combination of the view trail plus pilgrims pass where you take the shuttle up, but walk back down. This loop trail is around 7 miles and will take around 5 hours. Have you visited Sliabh Liag? You want to go now don’t you?
