🚃 I present to you the (#9 ) overnight sleeper train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai! ✈️ Sure, the flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is just an hour and twenty minutes, but it's still flying. I, myself, love flying, but I'm still fairly certain the *process* of flying does not top the list of most people's favorite things to do - so why not take the train? 🛌 It's a 13-hour ride but one-hour in, at about 8pm, the staff converts the exceptionally wide seats into upper and lower berths (bunkbeds) complete with a mattress topper, pillow, fresh linens, and a privacy curtain that actually spans the entire length of the mattress, which is great because the lights stay on all night, and they keep the ac cranking as well! ⏰️ Wake up is at 6am - a little more than an hour before arrival in Chiang Mai. Dinner, breakfast, and coffee can be purchased on board and is served at your seat - the quality of which is comparable to other long-distance transit meals, and you will reveive a small complimentary bottle of water. **You may want to pack your own snacks and beverages. 🪞 There are no showers (except possibly in first class, which sells out quickly), but each second-class car (where I stayed) has three single bathrooms plus two additional shared wash basins. 😴 I slept about as well as in the hotel I was staying in. The bottom berth is darker (farther from the ceiling lights), has a window (with privacy curtain), maybe a few more square inches of space, and you're laying right over your baggage if security is a concern (I locked mine to the seat frame with a cable lock), but the top bunk is cooler (closer to the ac vents). 💰 In any case, you can't beat the deal - transit and one night's accommodation for about $35! If I decide to go back to Bangkok from here, I may just book the sleeper train back! #nomaplife #nomadlife #newjourney #newadventure #newexperiences #thaitravel #Thailand #traintravel #thaitrain #bangkoktravel #bangkoktrain #chiangmaitravel #chiangmaitrain ##9train #sleepertrain
