@nicolehennessy2: Replying to @Christina I hope we can all start learning and growing together. Not based on what we heard but based on the facts we look for.
When I worked in DEI recruiting it just meant we got a variety of people in the interview pool. Everyone went through the same process it just gave a wider variety of people the chance to be seen.

Think of it like points to get your resume even seen. You still have to qualify and be hired based on your credentials.

It’s based on a percentage of the surrounding workforce…basically that your employee demographics should be similar to the workforce available in the area you hire from.

What does "most qualified" mean? Best school, most experience? IRL there are base line requirements, the hiring decisions come down to a candidates experiences, skills and personality.

Great explanation. Great attempt at trying to have the conversation. Unfortunately, it will not resonate.

people tend to forget that you do not need to be the most experienced or have the best scores to be qualified for something. Multiple ppl can be qualified for the same job with a range of skills/exp.

People easily forget that in addition to all of this most applications are viewed holistically & include personality checks. So even if u have better grades/experience there’s many variables involved

I know a company that would hire only if the person was recommended by someone, and as employees we were “required” to recruit … we were not in HR

Just because they’re not WHITE doesn’t mean they’re unqualified. Ask how many white men have gotten a promotion over a more qualified nonwhite male. Ask other people!

Why do the Trumpers and MAGA ride sooooo hard on this and yet… look at Trump’s cabinet. There is a boatload of research out there that confirms male bias

I don't understand why people think dei means exclude white people... it's about making an effort to find qualified candidates from all communities, especially from those typically disadvantaged

Look, anybody that isn’t a white male and has worked in an office understands what DEI is intended to do. Women and other minorities have to work twice as hard to be considered half as good as a white

Why is it always a white woman with this argument? 😫 DEI is not the big bad boogeyman trying to take away jobs that these white people think it is.

let me help.. IT STOPS COMPANIES FROM ONLY HIRING WHITE PEOPLE... EXAMPLES? LIKE THE WHITE HOUSE FILLED OF WHITE BILLIONAIRES WITH NO QUALIFICATIONS.

It’s always about blackS, gayS & THE mexicanS. But if I said I’m only gna hire black women only the MAGA whites would tilt the world off its axis w anger.

The very fact that they think that a black person or woman could not possibly be the most qualified person is precisely why these programs need to exist.

Why do people think the ‘most qualified’ are always automatically white men?
