As a groomer may I also suggest an undercoat rake 👀 one where it’s not blades, but the tines have a twisty bit on the bottom to pull all the dead hair out ❤️😊

if he isn't scared of the sound a hairdryer/blowdryer try to use that to get rid of some of the fur easier

get a metal wide tooth comb too so you dont get stuck impacted fur at the skin. that can lead to matting, which can be painful and requires shaving.
