I thought the multiple mentions of his eye color in this book was because Violet was constantly checking if they were turning red. It shows the nervousness and her need for him to stay human. 🤷🏼♀️

The characters have absolutely devolved. I loved Fourth Wing. Iron Flame and Onyx Storm were a chore I did in hopes of being amazed at the ending. I’m not amazed, I’m bored.

I think it would have been so much better as multi-pov that way we could 1. Learn and care about different characters 2. We wouldn’t be stuck in Violet’s head (less rep) 3. Would give a more epic weig

I also didn't love how all of a sudden she would count down between actions in battle, it just felt too choppy and took away from the immersive aspects that Fourth Wing had

same problem happened w/SJMs final CC book. I think these authors get so big and editors just tell them yes its good or they just ignore editors alltogether/rush to publish for $ sacrificing quality

I think the thing I missed the most is she didn’t use information the settle her the same way she did especially in fourth wing. It’s like a pivotal factor in her character that kinda got left behind
