@houstonchronicle: Government-run lotteries rest on a foundation of public trust; they typically are scrupulous about maintaining a clean house. Yet despite Lottery.com’s well-documented laundry list of financial and regulatory problems, the Texas Lottery Commission continued conducting business with the company and — in one dramatic instance less than a year after the board meeting — veered out of its way to help it. In April 2023, Lottery.com and an affiliated company, ALTX Management, were two of four companies that worked with an investor to secure a $95 million Lotto Texas jackpot by buying up virtually every possible number combination in the draw — more than 25 million tickets. Not only did Lottery.com earn hundreds of thousands of dollars in commissions for selling the tickets, it publicly promoted the burst of sales as an important milestone in its financial recovery (it has not sold any lottery tickets since). What a perfect example of why local investigative journalism is so crucial. Keep up the great work.

This makes no sense. Buying every number combination would cost at least twice the payout. What am I missing other than the fact the Houston Chronicle is a fish wrapper.
