That deal was a tragedy and I’m sure nobody meant to have a accident meant to have a crash in mid air. They just gotta find out what happened so it don’t happen.

I think I saw somewhere that the bh wasn't supposed to be over 250 off the ground

They weren’t very experienced. 1500 hrs between them is nothing. I’m a flight nurse and the minimum a medical helicopter pilot can even get hired is 2500. That’s serveral more years exp.

I’m sure they were task saturated with the addition of it being a check ride flight. The published heli route was 200’. The heli climbed to 400’ per radar tracking. Lots of wrong things lined up.

Very poor communication from that controller. I flew last night and the controllers were very very descriptive on which regional jet we had in sight both times we crossed the active here at PSP.

Yes and Yessen I felt the same way. We learned something hope they will do better in technology to keep that from happening

You are very correct about it being hard to see at night in those lights. Sounds like they were suppose to be under NVG. I fly NVG 2-3 nights a week. We flip them up in the city like that.

Very good explanation, also the CRJ crew was in full concentration on the approach and landing. That particular approach is a sidestep from one runway to another with a partial heading change.

The helicopter had their head up Ass. There is no way in hell they couldn’t have avoided this accident. I’ve flown since 2008 and have 11 years as a ag helicopter pilot. Complacency maybe.

From what I understand the chopper pilot seen the air craft in front and didn’t see the one to his side,

Any here is the very first fault in the accident.. 7110.65….The primary purpose of the ATC system is to prevent collision of aircraft operating in the system.
