@kermishy: Replying to @Jessygirl300 THANK YOU LOVELY COMMENTORS!!! I would much rather be wrong and able to correct myself than never realize I was wrong in the first place. my excuse is that frankly I just don’t like this movie very much so I don’t watch it very often lol. it’s probably my least favorite out of the classic era. #ballet faq: “duchess Rowena‘s dress doesn’t match the time period” she comes from wealth, but ran out of money, so I’m gonna say that her clothes are out of date for that reason. #barbiemovies #barbietok #12dancingprincesses #nostalgia #greenscreen
⭐⭐the duchesses dress is more of an early 1700s with its shape and its high collar (ruff?) the king's clothing fits that era as well but both def have fantasy/modern influences

Looking at the sleeves and the décore on the collar of the princess’s dress and what not along with their hair it would probably be closer to the mid to late 1820s. It would also make sense -

That makes sense, tho the kings outfit wouldn’t be fitting at all, but there’s no way to connect all the disparate parts of the film

Fwiw it was common for girls and teens to have shorter dresses w maybe a little ankle. But I think the oldest sisters are in their 20s so the ankle still poses a problem LOL

I mean just because it was "invented" in 15th century, doesn't mean it didn't exist before? Isaac Newton discovered gravity in 1687, didn't mean that people floated before that. (If they did

Its clearly the 1700s, which would be the same time period as the princess and the pauper

guys the reason it has to be after 1863 is because like she said in the video the tarantella wasn't written until 1863

Thanks Queen for listening 💜💜💜 Can you do Rapunzel's kingdom next? I'm pretty sure it's the worst since they're at war with the neighboring kingdom lol

Maybe it could also be found out by looking off the fairy tale it’s based on. Where 12 princess disappear each night so the king hires a person to find out where they go each night.

I think 1870s is pretty spot on. Mostly because the beginning plot is that the girls aren’t presentable so of course they wouldn’t be in the most fashionable clothing

1870s makes sense to me and children could show ankle so assuming that none of them are above “adult age” it would be fine. Young girls also tended to wear “fluffy” dresses

I feel like the 1870s dresses match Rowena’s style

they’re showing ankle cause they’re not seen as adults in society yet. your dress hemlines drop as you age

it'd make sense if the movie was set between 1867 and 1870, there were like 3 years where big skirt AND square necklines were in fashion. though the shape of the skirt was a bit different

the girls in the movie were young and in the 1860s young girls wouldn’t have long dresses

also showing ankles in 1850-60s weren't uncommon they are young girls and young girls don't wear long dresses plus people from other classes wire shorter dresses

I don’t think there’s a date for this 😭 sorry, but they just mixed a bunch of stuff. No way they’re in the late 1800s
