Humane agents cut him loose, only to realize that the makeshift noose had nearly severed his windpipe as he tried desperately to break free. This situation is critical and still developing. After his owner's arrest on unrelated charges, Red was left tied to the inside of his apartment - no food or water within reach. His bindings were tied with such force that the cables rearranged his trachea and cut through LAYERS of fur, skin, and tissue around his neck. Even more heartbreaking, the plastic cables around Red's neck were so short that he couldn't lie down. He was forced to sleep sitting up and to relieve himself in the same spot—unable to escape the stench of his own feces and urine. It was torture. Red was nearly headless when he was finally rescued. Red was left behind in a dilapidated house FOR WEEKS. We will be taking legal action to ensure justice is served for this heinous act of cruelty. No one but his owner knew Red was there. They KNEW and didn’t say a single word about it. They were going to let him die. If his neck wounds didn't end his life, starvation and dehydration certainly would have. His faint whimpers of agony at the door were the only indication he was still alive. The second Humane Agents rescued him, we RUSHED this boy to the ER. The embedded cable was carefully removed and antibiotics were administered to counter the severe infection festering around his wound. He is receiving medication to manage his pain and we are doing all we can to reduce his swelling and discomfort. The tear stains running down his cheeks shatter our hearts each time we look at him. Red’s treatment is ongoing, requiring constant monitoring to ensure he remains stable and regains the strength needed to recover. This boy needs ALL the help he can get.
