@bristexastails: Opal update 1/31 Opal came home today❤️ -She’s maintaining her body temp well so the vet moved her off of the heat equipment last night -Her glucose levels are maintaining -She’s continuing to eat well and she had improvements (minimal) in her red blood cell count -She’s pottying on her own which is great. They had to manual express her bladder for her to urinate Tuesday and Wednesday. -She walked on her own for about 10’ Thursday before buckling but the fact that she did 10’ is enormous!! Opal has been under 24hr supervision at the hospital since Sunday by the best team of vets. The team has provided us with a detailed plan of action that we are executing to the fullest. That said, she’s still in a very delicate state. She’s doing about the best that can be expected of a severely malnourished dog with a BCS of 1/9. We really won’t have full clarity of her long term health until she achieves a BCS of 3/9 and can re-evaluate all of her organ function. We expect to achieve this over the next 2 months as long as she keeps up this forward progress! I can’t thank everyone enough for the love and support you all have shown Opal and I.
