He acknowledged that Jesus was from God but struggled to understand the deeper message. Jesus spoke of being born again, a spiritual transformation that Nicodemus couldn’t quite grasp yet. But here’s the key—he kept listening. We see him again in John 7:50-51, quietly defending Jesus in front of the other Pharisees. It wasn’t a bold declaration of faith, but it was progress—another step forward. Then, after Jesus’ crucifixion, Nicodemus took his biggest step yet. He helped prepare Jesus’ body for burial, bringing 75 pounds of spices—an offering fit for a king. (John 19:39-40) No more hiding. No more secrecy. When Jesus' own disciples had scattered, Nicodemus stepped up. His journey reminds us that faith isn’t always instant—it grows over time. Maybe you’re in the early stages, still asking questions like Nicodemus did that night. Maybe you’re taking small steps, unsure of what’s next.
