@doctorsood: The FDA has just approved a new non-opioid pain medication, marking a huge step in pain management. The FDA just approved Journavx (suzetrigine), the first non-opioid pain medication in a brand-new drug class. It treats moderate to severe acute pain without targeting opioid receptors—helping reduce opioid use and addiction risk. 🔬 What This Means: ✅ A new option for post-surgical and injury-related pain ✅ Potentially reduce opioid prescriptions and their risks when appropriate ✅ FDA fast-tracked approval due to its promising benefits ⚠️ Side effects include itching, muscle spasms, and rash. Avoid grapefruit while taking it. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. ⬇️ #painmeds #chronicpain #medical #health
Please, tell me if it works on nerve pain?! I’m so over taking the opioids I’m on and the amount. Spinal corn injury and severe spinal stenosis, one surgery down and two to go. I’ve called every pharmacy in my town and the pharmacies seem to know little to nothing about it and when they may stock it.

but it's only meant for 14 days or less. what about those with constant, every day pain that continuously get denied pain relief?

How do you think this compares to Nurtec OTD for nerve pain in the neck that causes migraines?

I don't understand why we can't use painkillers that's been working for decades? If a Dr has the means to take away pain then do your job and make people's life bearable for God's sake.

But it’s not for chronic pain right?? Most don’t get addicted to acute pain treatment.

I’m having major surgery next month. I wish it would be available by then. I guess I’ll just have to see.

Do you have any recs on good papers to read on it? I'd be interested to see if it can eventually be translated to vet med, as we are always looking to upgrade our pain management protocols.

Just keep in mind before everybody gets too excited that it's probably not going to be covered in by insurance for the first year. That just tends to be the case with new pharmaceuticals in the US.
