nothing can last years in the freezer regardless of whether or not it's airtight. nothing should be in freezer longer than 6-8 months.

Aldi has bags and sealers in store now. I have a food Saver brand sealer and use the less expensive Aldi bags.

Vacuum seal chili and soups flat and you can store so much more. Same for ground meat. I can store 1 lb bags of bulk ground beef in about 8 inches (height) of space.

I've had many foo savers for years, it's the best way to store frozen foods and also dry foods. I also use mine to seal important documents and other non food items.

fun fact, food doesn't go bad if it's frozen. yes, it can loose some taste/texture, especially if it get freezer burn. but it's still good.
